SAVE THE DATE - 10th International NICE / EPITA workshop, 7-9 September, 2020 - Oslo University Hospital
The European Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association (EPITA) is a section of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT). EPITA was established to provide a forum for those working in the field of pancreas and islets transplantation or any other alternative form of beta-cell replacement in Europe, to exchange scientific information and views related primarily to providing the best service for patients in Europe requiring pancreas or islet transplantation.
Over the years, EPITA has evolved into a major European Association with international influence dedicated to issues related to Pancreas and Islet in the field of transplantation.
As part of its mission to provide state-of-the-art education for physicians, scientists and surgeons, EPITA will host the next edition of the 10th International NICE / EPITA workshop on September 7-9, 2020 in Oslo, Norway. The aim of the workshop is to provide theoretical education and in-person training to:
· Basic scientists, physicians, surgeons and technicians who are new or junior into to the field of islet isolation and transplantation and regenerative medicine in beta cell replacement
· Provide baseline knowledge for the creation and development of new islet isolation and transplantation centres
· Provide continuing education and update to scientists, physicians, surgeons and technicians who are already established in the field of islet isolation and transplantation and regenerative medicine in beta cell replacement
Generally, this workshop is composed of 2 parts, a 1.0-day theoretical part followed by a 1.5-day practical part. Part 1 is made of lectures given by expert speakers coming from several European centers active in Beta-Cell Replacement Therapy and Regenerative Medicine. Part 2, consists of a demonstration of novel techniques in combination with hands-on activities. Supervision will be given by qualified personnel from the host institution and other European cooperating centers.
