ELPAT Board: Call for Nominations

ELPAT is inviting nominations for 3 positions:

1) Co-Chair of the Legal Boundaries Working Group (2018 - 2021)

There are one Chair and one Co-chair per Working Group. The ELPAT Working Group Chair and Co-Chair are nominated and elected by the ELPAT affiliates for a fixed term of 3 years. The Working Group Chair and Co-chair may be re-elected once. Either the working group Chair or Co-Chair has a seat in the ELPAT Board and at least one is present at the ELPAT Board meeting. 

The tasks of the Working Group Chair and Co-Chair are to:

·         encourage application for funding for ELPAT activities;
·         outline and develop the short- and long-term scientific research strategy for their Working Group;
·         stimulate production of output;
·         help prepare and organize the ELPAT conferences and events;
·         introduce new affiliates;
·         stimulate active participation of affiliates.

2) Chair of the Public Issues Working Group (2018 - 2021)

There are one Chair and one Co-chair per Working Group. The ELPAT Working Group Chair and Co-Chair are nominated and elected by the ELPAT affiliates for a fixed term of 3 years. The Working Group Chair and Co-chair may be re-elected once. Either the working group Chair or Co-Chair has a seat in the ELPAT Board and at least one is present at the ELPAT Board meeting.

3) Vice-Chair of ELPAT (2018 - 2019, plus 2019-2022 as Chair)

The Vice-Chair has a seat on the ELPAT Board and supports the Chair in leading ELPAT. Affiliates of good standing with ESOT who have been members of ELPAT for a minimum of three years can be nominated to become Vice-Chair. The ELPAT Vice-Chair is nominated by a minimum of 2 affiliates and appointed by the ELPAT Board for a period of three years. The Vice-Chair is elected by ELPAT affiliates by simple majority vote. The ELPAT Chair has deciding vote in case of a tie-break.

The Vice-Chair will automatically become ELPAT Chair when the current Chair steps down. During the transition period from old to new regulations the to-be elected Vice-Chair will take over as ELPAT Chair at the end of 2019. The appointment of ELPAT Vice-Chair is confirmed by the ESOT Council and is communicated to the affiliates.

The tasks of the Vice-Chair include, but are not limited to:

·         acting as central point of contact for ELPAT members, stakeholders and other key persons;
·         together with the ELPAT Chair, organizing and facilitating ELPAT meetings, symposia and conferences;
·         identifying new topics and strategies for the platform;
·         representing ELPAT at ESOT council meetings in the absence of the Chair.

How can I be nominated?

Please note that in order to participate in the elections you need to be an ESOT Member in good standing with an active ELPAT affiliation, and up to date with your 2018 ESOT membership fees. Only nominations coming from ESOT Members who have settled their 2018 membership fees will be considered.

- A brief CV; 
- A statement explaining why you would like to join the ELPAT Board;

2) Co-chair of the Public IssuesWorking Group:

You may nominate yourself or a colleague. In order to complete the application, please write to office@esot.org (cc: elpat@erasmusmc.nl) by Friday 14 December, 2018 attaching:
- A brief CV; 
- A statement explaining why you would like to join the ELPAT Board;

3) Vice-Chair of ELPAT

Requirements:
- The candidate has been an ESOT member with ELPAT affiliation for a minimum of three years;
- The candidate is nominated by a minimum of 2 ELPAT affiliates with an active ESOT membership.

Eligible candidates can apply by sending an email to office@esot.org (cc: elpat@erasmusmc.nlby Friday 14 December, 2018 attaching:
- A brief CV;
- A motivation statement;
- At least two letters of nomination from ELPAT affiliates.
