1st Combined Workshop on Thoracic and Abdominal Organ Perfusion for Transplantation

Dear colleagues!

On April 15-16th 2019 the first 1st Combined Workshop on Thoracic and Abdominal Organ perfusion for Transplantation (CWOPT) will be organized by the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam.

This course is endorsed by ESOT.

The course will focus on European transplant surgeons that are interested in performing organ perfusion, either hypothermic or normothermic. Machine perfusion is entering an exciting new era with hopeful results from the first clinical trials. We strongly believe in synergy and underlying common grounds of organ injury and repair, so the course will address both abdominal and thoracic organ transplantation and aims to harbor 20-25 attendants.

Renowned faculty from leading centers will share their practical experience and tips and tricks for problem solving in the theory part of the course at Monday.

Thursday will be dedicated to hands-on opportunity to perform under their guidance all hypothermic and normothermic perfusion techniques, including normothermic regional / central perfusion in the wet lab (live pig organs). In this part, separate abdominal and thoracic working groups will be formed to maximize exposure and guarantee learning objectives.

Several organ perfusion equipment manufactures will be present to demonstrate their specific devices. We aim for a maximum how-to-do-it experience, so that attendees feel confident to start or proceed with their own program.

The program can be found here.

We are looking forward very much to welcome you as participant of this new course from the LIDO course team!

With kind regards on behalf of the organizing team,

Jeroen de Jonge, Wojtek Polak and Khe Tran,

Course directors
