The Hesperis Course: Your Transplant Springboard!

 

Academia: Personal scientific empowerment!

 

 

The Hesperis Course: attempts to provide advanced knowledge in transplantation for professionals who are entering the field. The main objective is to provide advanced overviews and inspiring discussions of the most relevant aspects of transplantation for physicians, surgeons and scientists entering the field of transplantation in a European transplant centre.

ACADEMIA: The workshop is open to 25 professionals, from trainee to senior consultant level. The number of attendees is limited to promote active participation and to stimulate close interaction amongst attendees and educators.

2 awards:
Henrik Ekberg Award for the Best Presentation;
Sir Peter Morris Award for the Best Systematic review abstract.

The course aim is to increase:

>Academic Skills
>Clinical research
>Relationship Mentor <-> Mentee
>Evidence-Based Medicine skills: search/analyse /interpret /summarise /debate
>Writing, Editing, Publishing
>Presenting:body language/use of the voice/take home message/how to prepare a presentation
>Communication skills
>Leadership skills

Access Requirements:

Registered participants to the Hesperis Course are kindly requested to:

1. Prepare a slide presenting who they are and their expectations – deadline to send it back: by 28/01/2019

2. Prepare a case (A4 including title and abstract +5 slides presentation) about 1 of the following topics:

IMMUNOLOGY

DECEASED DONATION

LIVING DONATION (KIDNEY/LIVER/PANCREAS/LUNG/UTERUS)

PEDIATRIC TRANSPLANTATION

REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

INFECTIONS AND MALIGNANCIES

THE COMPLICATIONS AFTER/IN TRANSPLANTATION

Registered participants to the ACADEMIA Course are kindly requested to:

1.   Be ready for the Journal Club that will take place the week before the course starts  - online (date & time will be shared next week)

2.   Prepare a presentation for the Henrik Ekberg Award (free subject/topic; time at disposal 7 minutes) - please send it by email to secretariat@esot.org by 28/01/2019

Registered participants will also have access to the preaparatory material provided for the Module: "Leading in the 21st Century: Communicating with Impact" (February 8-9, 2019)
