Membership Scope

Professionals who are actively involved in transplantation are cordially invited to join the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT). ESOT offers an extensive course programme to scientists and medical doctors, enhances a network of European laboratories and organises a biannual congress where the latest results on transplant research are presented.

ESOT offers various types of membership which are briefly specified further on. More elaborate information can be found by clicking on the links. All regular, international, trainee and combined ESOT-ELITA members of ESOT receive:
  • 12 issues/year of Transplant International, ESOT’s Journal
  • Access to the ESOT Educational programme
  • Access to the Grant & Award programme
  • A reduced fee to the congress
  • Access to the Member Avenue on the ESOT website

Regular Membership
Transplant professionals residing in Europe can apply for regular membership.
Membership fee per 01.01.2010: € 100,- per year.

Joint-Membership (open only to members of National Transplantation Societies in Europe)
Transplant professionals residing in Europe who are also member of a national transplant society in Europe, can apply for joint- membership.
This type of membership will be available from 01.06.2010 for new members and from 01.01.2011 for ESOT members.
Membership fee per 01.01.2011: € 50,- per year.

International Membership
Transplant professionals who are residing outside Europe can apply for the International membership.

Trainee Membership
Trainees aged under 32 can apply for the trainee membership. This status can be maintained for three years after which the trainee member will become a regular member.

Sections and Expert Groups selection
ESOT Members are eligible to nominate their preferred affiliation with a specific section and/or expert group of ESOT. This affiliation enables Members to take office in committees and vote on matters brought before the assemblies of the respective sections and/or expert groups. Affiliations offer: reduction in the registration fee for meetings, excellent networking of professionals in Europe involved in the same clinical and/or scientific expert group in transplantation, access to registries, e.g. ELTR (European Liver Transplant Registry). Affiliation does not require extra membership fee.

Emeritus Membership
Members who retire, however, would like to remain listed with ESOT can become emeritus members.

Temporary Membership
Temporary membership offers the opportunity to look around ESOT without having to pay any membership fee. Temporary members can apply for courses and grants. However, if a temporary member is selected for a course or a grant, he or she has to become a full ESOT member. Temporary Membership can only be applied for once.

Member Application Procedure
To become a member of ESOT, a membership form has to be filled out including a CV and member profile. Furthermore two other ESOT members have to approve your membership application.
